Jodie Mearns
Jodie Mearns is the owner of Big M Quarter Horse Stud and Calibre Country Shooting & Outdoors in Tamworth. Horse breeding and performance has always played a significant role in Jodie’s life; her father was a horse trainer, and Jodie started showing cutting horses at the young age of 5. Jodie’s whole family is engaged with the equine industry. Her husband competes in Team Roping, and her two daughters participate successfully in most timed rodeo events.
Jodie has gained recognition and participated in the US Non Pro futurity and aged events. One of the horses she had success with was DMAC DADDY (imp/Dec) who was trained and shown in the US and then transported back to Australia by Jodie. She showed him in the Non-Pro Derby, winning both go rounds and 5th in the Final. Jodie and Dmac Daddy where the first Champions of the NCHA Non Pro Classic, with a resume including not having missed a singular aged event final and the highest-earning horse by SMART LITTLE LENA in Australia. Jodie has been involved in successful horse partnerships such as DUALLY COOL (imp) , HEAVY METAL (iiu) (NCHA Futurity Champion) and STYLISH PLAYER (NCHA Derby Champion), all champions in numerous major aged events.
Jodie has been a frozen semen stallion agent for over eighteen years, and her proudest moments are being part of helping an owner breed a foal and then witness it compete. Jodie feels being a stallion agent presents an opportunity to include some exceptional bloodlines into Australia and complements the other stallions at Big M Quarter Horse Stud. Jodie operates without competition and is eager to provide her opinion; she cherishes what her clients receive. Jodie is proud to have been the agent for DUAL SMART REY for over a decade and is thrilled with the new stallions with which she has access, and in tune with what is happening in the states, such as HASHTAGS, CR GOTCHA COVERED, COOL N HOT, SPOTS HOT, CATOLENA CASHIN IN, HOTTISH METAL, CSR DUAL GLO and SNIPERR, 
Dmac Daddy (IMP/Dec)
Big M Quarter Horse Stud was home to USA imported stallion Dmac Daddy. Dmac is by Smart Little Lena earner of over $743,275 (usa $) and was the first triple crown champion, he is the number 2 leading sire in the US with progeny earning over $36.5 million $. His dam Moms Stylish Kat was the number 3 highest money earning mare in 1998. Dmac Daddy is a 1998 bay stallion, he has NCHA earnings of $36,954 he was trained in the USA and came to Australia in 2002 his first show was the NCHA Open and Non Pro Derby, he won the 1st and 2nd go round and was 5th in the final with Jodie Mearns. Some of this other major achievements are, NCHA Gold Cup Open Non pro Champion, Cotton Country Non pro Classic Challenge Champion 2003 and NCHA Non pro Classic Champion 2004. Dmac Daddy also has some impressive progeny, to date they have won over $60,000. which include Givem Hell, NCHA earnings of $13,194 she was also equal 5th in the 2008 NCHA Non pro Futurity, she is out of the great mare One Hellofa Spin. One Moore Daddy finaled in all 3 Futurities and went on to win Rocky Rush, Monto, Cloncurry and Paradise Lagoons Stockman’s Challenges, he is the only horse to win all challenges in the same year. He is out of another great mare One Moore Spin.
